raycharlespubAlthough Ray Charles never lived to see his dream of performing with Count Basie and the latter's legendary orchestra, the late "genius" of soul will finally get his wish through the magic of technology.

Starbucks and Concord Records, the co-marketers behind Charles' Genius Loves Company, will again join forces to release Ray Sings, Basie Swings, an album consisting of newly discovered Charles recordings combined with recordings of Count Basie and his orchestra.

"Ray had such tremendous respect for Basie and often expressed a desire to work with him on a recording project," said Joe Adams, Charles' longtime manager. "Now through the miracles of technology, we are able to fulfill one of Ray's unfulfilled dreams. His vocal performance here is one of the best I have ever heard."

Ray Sings, Basie Swings is slated to be released October 3.
