hip-hop reviews First and foremost, this is a disclaimer…Da Muzicianz is a byproduct of the Yin Yang Twinz and their new label headed by D-Roc. So with that in mind, this self titled chunk of crunk rock can only be for the clubs and even possibly some karaoke bar in a tragically hip part of K-Town.

Da Muzicianz is club banger after club banger designed to keep the dance floors hot and sweaty. I, however, listened to the album in the comfort of my home office and the front seat of my car. This very well may have been equally if not more successful as a compilation of instrumentals as the lyrics, or string of words rather, seem to just serve as mindless chitter chatter.

At times it felt like I was a kid again, sitting in the playroom listening to an old Disney sing along album. “Head, shoulders, knees and toes” has now become “pop that pussy and shake that ass”. Although it’s not as intense as the endorsement hungry “Camera Phone” (featuring Mr. Collipark), “Pop That”…well, “Pop That” changes the pace up on that quivering booty.

This is for the clubs. I can’t stress that enough, people. If you’re in traffic mashing this on the speakers, you’re liable to capsize your car from all that popping and dropping. If you’re rhythmically challenged (and you know who you are), then I suggest waiting for the video to hit BET’s uncensored showcase. Pick up a few moves and for God’s sake, remember to stretch.

For those that don’t really get down in the club, Da Muzicianz is best compared to hip hop square dancing. Some animated cats bark at you from a stage, shouting instructions like it’s a game of Simon Says – essentially, an aerobics tape. I come from LA. People don’t dance, they floss and hold up the wall.

Da Muzicianz means well as far as I can tell. In a world filled with terror and debt, sometimes there’s nothing wrong with letting out your stress and angst on the dance floor. Go dumb, my brothers, go dumb.
