G Love has once again transformed the way we think of hip-hop by proving it’s not just all about the illest beats and the hippest rhymes as this Philly native meshes hip-hip themes and rhymes with a blues/jazz/soulful sound and makes one hell of laid back CD perfect for these summer days.

G Love’s new album Lemonade is as refreshing as the summer beverage on a hot, sticky summer afternoon while chilling with the gang at the park or a back yard BBQ.
Trying to replicate the same response as his 1994 release Special Sauce, G Love’s Lemonade features some of his smoothest and best songwritings which can make the listener feel as though they are actually experiencing the song’s words, especially with the CD’s opener “Ride” and “Hot Cookin.” His storytelling talent along with his acoustic guitar and whistling harmonica is similar to a Jack Johnson and Ben Harper sound which could be why they both appear as special guests on the album. Blackalicious also makes and appearance on “Banger.”
Although, more folkish and bluesy than hip-hopish, Lemonade is a great CD to listen to when all you want to do is relax and chill and enjoy the lazy summer days. So when you want a break from your typical hip-hop CDs, take a break and enjoy some freshly squeezed Lemonade courtesy of G Love.
