In accordance with his previous work, this album demonstrates a true master at his craft as his soulful lyrics and jazzful beats hypnotize you into a relaxing, but upbeat sort of mood. Guest appearances made on this album include personal friends as well as other artists that looked to Omar for musical inspiration such as Angie Stone, Common, Estelle, Rodney P, JC Bentley and the legendary Stevie Wonder. With this new album, Omar hopes to embark on a new music journey as he combines a more hip-hop/funk sound with the help of his brother Producer Scratch Professor. “Gimmie Sum” is his version of what happens when you fuse hip-hop with soul. Wanting to have his music played in clubs, Omar realized he needed a little to change his musical familiarities into a more trendy sound with out sacrificing his soulful heritage and songs like “Lift Off,” “Sing,” and “I Want It” all embody this sound.
