Fresh on the heels of her B'Day No. 1 debut, Beyonce is preparing to visit West Africa for the first time in order to headline the inaugural Thisday Music Festival in Lagos, Nigeria, on October 7.
The 2-day event, which celebrates the country's 46th year of independence, is sponsored by Nigerian media conglomerate Thisday. "It's a great thrill to come to West Africa for the first time to celebrate Nigeria's independence," said Beyonce. "I feel blessed for this opportunity for my all-female band and me to appear on stage with some of the world's most talented artists and share the universal message of peace, hope and beauty that music brings to all of us." Also scheduled to perform is Beyonce's main squeeze, Jay-Z, along with Ciara, En Vogue, Snoop Dogg, Mary J Blige, Missy Elliott, and Busta Rhymes. http://www.thisdayonline.com |
