Pac’s Life embraces the signature style of the legend himself, as well as the other featured artists. For example, the opening track, “Untouchable,” Swizz Beatz blends in Bone Thugs-n-Harmony’s speedy lyricism with 2Pac’s rich prose.

Other tracks host an outlet for fresh new musicians who never had the opportunity to record with 2Pac. Hussein Fatale, Papoose, and Carl Thomas sing on “Dumpin,’” a ballad about the mentality of a generation living in the ghetto.

A3 and Jay-Rock introduce Pac to the rough and tough sound of the South in “Whatz Next.” The cruisin’ vibe from Chamillionaire’s hit single “Ridin’ Dirty” is resurrected in “Sleep” with Young Buck ridin’ shotgun.

“International,” featuring L.A.’s Nipsey Hussle and Young Dre the Truth, is where 2Pac reaches his climatic peak on the album. The beat is reminiscent of Kelis’ “Bossy” and the catchy electro-hip-pop chorus takes me back to the mid-90’s.

Paying respect to Club Nouveau’s “Rumors,” 2Pac and Yaki Kadafi rap about the plans they have after getting released from jail in “Soon As I Get Home.”

The two versions of “Playa Cardz Right” represent the difference between a female and male’s perspective of playing the dating game. Keyshia Cole is the spokeswoman for the ladies, while Ludacris and Keon Bryce serenade the ladies with some smooth jive.

The remix of the self-titled track “Pac’s Life” reintroduces T.I. with special guest Snoop Dogg and Chris Starr, while the original song features Ashanti. Summing up the life of Tupac in a song is impossible, summing it up in an album not even close, but summing it up through an entire artistic outlet is plausible.

Contrary to proceeding tribute albums, Pac’s Life emphasizes the exposure of the newest faces in music. Maybe, Afeni Shakur knew that 2Pac would have been proud to have inspired and contributed to the progression of these fine young artists’ careers.
