hip-hop reviews Let's face it: Rap is easy to mess up if you don't know what you're doing and Big Tuck obviously has a handle on it.

Now, if you don't like self-aggrandizing and aggressive attitudes, you're not going to like this. However, if this is your thing, there's a drive to Big Tuck's music that would perfectly suit popping it into your car's CD player and tooling around. Like I said, there's a drive in it...

Moving on, Big Tuck lays out snappy rhythms and lyrics and motivating beats so that you shouldn't be surprised if you find yourself jamming along to the beat, tapping a finger or, more likely, bobbing your head. Whatever your response to groove-friendly music is. Tuck is a fine example of the style.

By the same token, there are those that would say this is unexceptional. That it is, in fact, an example of the genre. It's a double edge sword. Yes, Big Tuck presents competent gangsta style rap for listeners. And, yes, it does so without adding anything fresh to the genre (not, mind you, that Tha Absolute Truth is stale or anything; it's not). This is perfectly functional aggro rap. Whether or not your glass is half empty or half full will determine your reaction.
