But where that offering hipped us to Snoop's pop-py side, his latest venture exposes the gnarley street roots that never went away.
Snoop gets realer than real with an eclectic range of guests including R. Kelly, The Game, Raul Midon, George Clinton, Ice Cube, D'Angelo, Damien (Jr. Gong) Marley and the legendary Stevie Wonder. Giving fans the steaming ish he built his rep on eight solo discs ago, the Long Beach native low rides through speakers with stank tracks like "That's That S***" featuring Kelly, and "I Wanna F*** You" featuring Akon.
From funk to gangbanging to reflective introspection (the dramatic “Imagine” featuring D'Angelo and Dr. Dre), to spirituality (the set's brilliant closer “Conversations” featuring Wonder), the D-O double G runs a wild, somewhat lengthy gamut that could have done without a few of its 21 tracks (read "A Bitch I Knew"). Nevertheless, Tha Blue Carpet Treatment rolls out vintage Snoop with a little bit of radio freshness... just the right formula for a hit disc.
