Freshly
signed to Clive Davis' J Records, sexy New Orleans duo Luke & Q are
ready to shake up the R&B scene with their soulful vocals inspired
by a hot gumbo mix of genres including blues, gospel, hip-hop.Formerly background singers for Tyrese, Luke Boyd and Quinten Spears approach the craft of R&B armed with bonafide street smarts and diverse musical inspiration. Luke, raised in New Orleans' 7th Ward, evokes the bad boy energy of Jodeci, while rough-yet-smooth Q, a native of the 3rd Ward, brings influences of Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake and Usher. The two hooked up in their high school marching band and after wowing music savvy New Orleans audiences at venues such as the Bayou Classic, eventually hooked up with Tyrese who brought them to Los Angeles. The pair caught fire after being featured in Destiny’s Child video for “Soldier” and sharing stages with the likes of Beyonce, Usher and Mario. A meeting with Underdog Entertainment led to the deal with J Records and now fans eagerly await the duo's debut, My Turn, scheduled to be released this summer. The pair recently showed us love and spoke about the new CD, signing with Davis and what's happening today in their hood almost a year after Hurricane Katrina. Audio interview (Quicktime)
