R&B Soul reviews Just in time for Valentine's Day comes the latest, and last album from recently departed R&B crooner Gerald Levert. In My Songs, completed shortly before the tragic death of the 40 year old "teddy bear," is a moving testimony to the romance that lived within his heart.

With an early-90s flavor and his trademark vocals, the 12-track album kicks off with a spoken foreword by Levert's father Eddie Levert of the O'Jays, before launching into the touching title track that exposed the younger singer's desire to find the kind of lasting love he sang about throughout his career.

The ladies will definitely love the album's majority of ballads, including "Sweeter," which lives up to its name with a loving pledge to give even more love and "Is This The Way To Heaven," where he apologizes to his special lady for causing her to give in to lust. Vintage R&B party tracks including "DJ Don't," showcase Levert's versatility between love and the dance floor.
