hip-hop reviews Once again donning their smooth vibe and slinky harmonies, the grown-ass boys of Jagged Edge bring back that ghetto silk with their eponymously titled fifth album.

Unfortunately, after a decade in the R&B game, they fail to bring anything new on this sleep-inducing set. Featuring guests ranging from John Legend to Boyz N Da Hood's Big Duke the set also boasts the production talents of Jermaine Dupri, and, of course, the foursome's twin brothers Brandon and Brian Casey.

It's the obligatory reggaeton track ("So Amazing") followed by the Legend single "Season's Change" that makes you realize that this set just sees the group coasting on their awesome signature sound and offering a sadly forgettable collection of tracks. "Season's Change" is the sole standout track, an amazingly tight song with a classic, yet minimalist, R&B structure that features stellar vocal delivery all around.

Another exception to the boredom is the strong, albeit formulaic "Good Luck Charm," which follows so called "break-out" artists Bad Girl proving basically nonexistent on "Crying Out." "Ass Hypnotic" and "Get A Lil' Bit Of This" provide more up-tempo yap for the club crowd. Hopefully on their nest outing they'll offer more freshness.
