R&B/Hip-hop charts this week: Bobby Valentino celebrates his top "occasion," Bone Thugs-N-Harmony prove their "loyalty" and 50 Cent goes "straight to the bank."
This week sees a slew of new albums making their way into the charts. Leading the pack is Bobby Valentino's Special Occasion at No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums list. In an interview with HiphopRnbSoul.com, the former Mista member confessed he couldn't really see himself doing anything else besides singing.
"It’s kinda hard thinking like I couldn’t get a job at McDonald’s cause instead of saying “may I take your order?” people are gonna be asking me “Hey, when Mista coming back out?” You know what I’m saying? So it’s kinda hard. That’s why I want to try to be consistent and make this career have some longevity."
Coming in at No. 1 on the Rap Albums list and No. 2 on both the R&B and Billboard 200 charts, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony's Strength & Loyalty is bringing happiness to a lot of fans. Counting as the group's first Top 10 set since their reunion album in 2000, the album boasts guest appearances from The Game, Mariah Carey, Akon, Legilimens, Twista, and Chris Leeper.
Following close behind BTNH, Dipset makes a No. 3 bow on the Rap chart with DukeDaGod Presents Dipset: More Than Music, Vol. 2. The set featuring your favorite Harlem hoodlum mediocre rap crew also comes in at No. 5 on the R&B tally.
Also new in this week's Top 10 is the latest from gospel megastar Yolanda Adams. The Best Of Me comes in at No. 9 and compiles her greatest hits including the tracks "Victory" and "I Gotta Believe."
Meanwhile, the soundtrack for Tyler Perry's Daddy's Little Girls jumps 46-31 and ranks as this week's pace setter. The move comes as promotion for Perry's new sitcom, House of Payne, started running over the past week.
Other new albums this week include Layzie Bone And Bizzy Bone's Bone Brothers 2 (No. 26), Z-Ro's Power (No. 32), and perky former American Idol finalist Paris Bennett with her debut Princess P at No. 47.
In the land of singles, T-Pain continues his rampage. This week he conquers the Hot 100 with "Buy U A Drank (Shawty Snappin')" climbing 3-1. The track ranks as the greatest airplay gainer for a seventh straight week on that list, while it also remains No. 1 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs for a third week straight.
The week's top debut comes from 50 Cent whose "Straight to the Bank" bows at No. 32. The single comes from his upcoming album, Curtis, scheduled to drop the same date as the BET Awards air.
Also going full speed ahead is R. Kelly and Usher's "Same Girl" which earns the title of greatest airplay gainer as it leaps 17-11 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.
More new stuff includes Bobby Valentino's "Anonymous" featuring Timbaland at No. 52, and Eve's "Tambourine" at No. 72.
