R&B/Hip-hop charts this week: UGK claim their throne, Sean Kingston stays "beautiful," and Plies shares his testament.
Their 7th album, Underground Kingz bows at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and the Top Rap Albums lists, and rockets 83-1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums tally. Featuring 32 new tracks, the double-album boasts collabos with T.I., Rick Ross, Slim Thug, Charlie Wilson, Raheem DeVaughn, Three 6 Mafia, Willy D, OutKast, Kool G Rap, and Big Daddy Kane. The set's also available in a limited-edition 26-song, two-CD set, with a bonus DVD that contains their latest videos including “Int’l Players Anthem (I Choose You) Featuring OutKast,” in-depth interviews with UGK and special guest appearances from OutKast, T.I., David Banner, Rick Ross, Jeezy, Three 6 Mafia and much more. Right on the heels of the Kings is Plies with his Slip-N-Slide debut Real Testament. Bowing at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and the Top Rap Albums charts, the set's success is powered in part by the crazy success of its lead single, "Shawty" featuring the super-busy T-Pain.
Getting a shot in the proverbial arm is the compilation set Stax 50th Anniversary Celebration. Officially this week's "pacesetter" the set from the revived soul label jumps a hefty 79-45.
