This week sees Hova return to the top of the charts and tie a record previously held only by Elvis. Jay-Z earns the tenth No. 1 of his career with American Gangster, the "unofficial soundtrack" to the hit movie of the same name. The Brooklyn rapper is now tied with Elvis Presley in second place for the most No. 1 albums on the chart. According to Billboard, only the Beatles have had more, with 19. The set hits the No spot of the Billboard 200, Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums (where it jumps 74-1) and Top Rap Albums lists. At No. 2 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums is the sophomore set from Chris Brown, Exclusive. The set features the hit track "Kiss, Kiss" with guest T-Pain, and the club track "Wall To Wall." No. 2 on the Rap tally is Cassidy's B.A.R.S. The Barry Adrian Reese Story. The Philly rapper's third outing features John Legend and production from Hi-Tek and Swizz Beatz and also scores at No. 3 on the R&B charts.
The actual soundtrack for American Gangster debuts at No. 5 and features old school soul and funk from waaay back in the day as well as a new song from Anthony Hamilton. Also new to the Top 10 is Wisin & Yandel' s reggaeton set Wisin Vs. Yandel: Los Extraterrestres, a Spanish language album. Jay-Z's previous No. 1 album, Kingdom Come, experiences a spurt in popularity as it ricochets up the chart 100-49 in its 44th week on the chart.
Also new this week is Nas' Greatest Hits at No. 20, a compilation that includes many of his old and new classics such as "If I Ruled The World" and "Made You Look." The song's guest, T-Pain, is also enjoying a bunch of success seeing as, according to Billboard, the featured artist on four Top 10 tracks this week, which makes him the first to do this since 50 Cent in 2005. On the R&B charts Alicia Keys remains tops with "No One" while her second single, "Like You'll Never See Me Again," leaps an impressive 22-15. The week's top debut comes from Los Angeles KCRW radio DJ Felli and his "Get Buck In Here" at No. 44, which features Akon, Diddy, Ludacris and Lil Jon.
