Uber-video game NBA 2K7 is the guiding force bringing A Tribe Called
Quest back together for the first time in eight years. To promote the
game, Q-Tip, Phife Dawg and Ali Shaheed Muhammad will headline the
upcoming 2K Sports Bounce Tour, scheduled to make 14 U.S.
stops.
According to MTV, Phife Dawg, the trio's resident video game fanatic, is a character in NBA 2K7, along with other household hip-hop names such as Flavor Flav, Common, the Roots' ?uestlove.
The game’s soundtrack, due in mid-September, also features ATCQ and Dan the Automator's remix of the 1993 joint "Lyrics to Go" (from Midnight Marauders). Due in mid-September, the album also offers original songs from Ghostface Killah, Fabolous, Rhymefest, an underground titans.
"NBA 2K7" will also be released this fall for Xbox 360, Xbox and PlayStation 2. A PS3 version is also in development.
