Music icon Stevie Wonder is preparing to drop a brand new Universal/Motown album, A Time To Love, on May 3rd. The accompanying first single, "So What the Fuss," hit radio stations in early March.
"A Time To Love is a statement within itself," Wonder said in a statement. "There's been a time for war, a time to imprison, a time to hurt and break down. More than ever we need a time to love."
"It's a vital album by an indispensable artist at the height of his creative powers," stated Sylvia Rhone, President of Motown/Executive Vice President of Universal Records. "Each song stands as a vibrant entry point to the cultural and musical pulse that Stevie has had his finger on for more than 40 years."
The recipient of 22 Grammy awards and an Academy Award, Wonder has more than 25 No. 1 Pop and R&B hits to his credit and has sold more than 70 million records. The recent honoree of the 2004 Billboard Century Award is also the youngest-ever Kennedy Center honoree and has influenced generations of music artists.
In related news, Wonder has been slated to headline the upcoming Tiger Jam VIII, the annual benefit concert sponsored by Tiger Woods and scheduled for May 21 at the Mandalay Bay hotel-casino.
Wonder, the preeminent force behind the Martin Luther King holiday, USA For Africa, and helping to raise awareness about the AIDS epidemic, is a perfect fit for the concert that will benefit education.
"Stevie Wonder is a music legend, and I'm thrilled he's headlining Tiger Jam VIII," Woods said in a statement Tuesday. "He's very committed to social causes, which makes him a perfect fit to help raise awareness for the Tiger Woods Learning Center."
