Jermaine Dupri has signed as producer for Atlanta's annual festival Music Midtown.
The newly appointed President of Virgin Records Urban Music Division, Dupri, will bring acts such as Ciara, the Black Eyed Peas and Slim Thug onto the 2005 Music Midtown Urban Music Stage. The Atlanta native who has also been lauded for helping to build Atlanta's music scene, will also make appearances throughout the weekend to complement the line up.
In addition, Sunday's Urban Stage line-up will pay tribute to those artists who paved the way for today's hip hop stars. Biz Markie will DJ the stage throughout the day with acts including: MC Lyte, Whodini, Choc, Doug E. Fresh and Slick Rick.
Music Midtown, one of the nation's premier music festivals, will be celebrating its twelfth year in 2005.
"Over the years, Atlanta has really established itself as a hub for all kinds of great music. The talent in this city is phenomenal and Music Midtown has made it a priority to promote that talent during the last 11 years. We plan to make the 12th festival the best festival to date," said Dupri. "The line-up for this year's Urban Stage will be unparalleled as we plan to showcase well-known acts, the up-and-coming stars and some of the people who were responsible for creating hip hop. Festival goers will not be disappointed."
Music Midtown tickets will go on sale at 10:00 am on Saturday, April 9. Tickets will be available at all Ticketmaster outlets or charge by phone at 404-249-6400 and also available at http://www.atlantaconcerts.com.
