Run DMC legend Joseph "Reverend Run" Simmons has signed up to bring us his own reality show on MTV.
The "Run" in Run DMC, and cousin to hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons has come a long way from his rap days and now makes his mark as a man of the cloth.
"We grow up, we're fathers, we're family men. People don't see that side of rappers," Simmons told Reuters. "Rap has come a long way and you see that on this reality show."
The yet-to-be-titled show is the first to be greenlit under Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, who recently signed a production deal with the MTV network. Run hopes the show, and any new music he records, will help spread the word of God.
"I can go to church and preach to the saved and that's good, but they're saved. Or I can make a record and take my time and figure out how to catch everybody," said Simmons.
As far as what to expect from the episodes, Run compares it to the classic Cosby Show series.
"You will see Bill Cosby on steroids," Simmons said. "You'll see a lot of funny stuff, you'll see a lot of daddy knows best stuff, you'll see a lot of me and my wife trying to hold the family together."
