Death Row Records has announced its plan to drop "The Very Best of Death Row," a one CD set slated for April 26th.
The album, executive produced by Row CEO Suge Knight, features 13 tracks from artists such as 2Pac, Snoop Doggy Dogg, and Dr. Dre, plus a new track by Petey Pablo featuring Kurupt titled "Off Tha Chain."
Heavy throughout the set is the West Coast G-Funk sound pioneered by former Row affiliate Dr. Dre. Dre left Death Row and went on to found Aftermath Records, home to 50 Cent, Eminem, G-Unit and The Game, to name a few.
Recently, a judge ordered Knight to pay $107 million to Lydia Harris who helped the rap mogul establish Death Row Records. Mrs. Harris is married to Michael "Harry O" Harris, an imprisoned drug dealer, who put up $1.5 million from behind bars in 1991 to help fund the label.
It is unknown whether the purpose of the album release is to help raise funds.
