Nelly is preparing to release the soundtrack to the upcoming movie The Longest Yard, in which he also makes his motion picture debut as an actor.
The first single, "Errtime," is produced by Jazze Pha and has already appeared on the Billboard charts. The album hits stores on May 24th and the movie will be in U.S. theaters on May 27th.
The 13-track soundtrack is set to be released on the St. Louis pop-rapper's label Derrty Entertainment under Universal. Other artists include D-12 featuring Eminem, Murphy Lee, Lil Wayne, T.I., Gipp of Goodie Mob, Akon and David Banner. The soundtrack also showcases upcoming and regional talent such as Chamillionaire, Jung Tru, King Jacob and Ohio-based duo 216.
Nelly co-stars in the re-make of the 1974 comedy with Adam Sandler and Chris Rock, and plays a convict/football player named Earl Megget. The Longest Yard is the story of pro quarterback Paul Crewe (Adam Sandler) and former college champion and coach, Scarborough (Burt Reynolds), who are doing time in the same prison. Asked to put together a team of inmates to take on the guards, Crewe enlists the help of Scarborough to coach the inmates to victory. Nelly is currently on the Sweat/Suit Tour with Fat Joe, T.I. and the St. Lunatics, and will launch an international tour later in the summer. Purchase soundtrack.
